Saw 1 The opening scene of "Saw" was indeed very tense because it started all dark and the sounds were all natural making the audience feel as if they are at the scene. Suddenly the lights come on and even for us the audience it felt uncomfortable looking in the light. The characters looked very scared and they had blood stains on their shirt- suggesting that something had been gone wrong. When the camera tilts down we can see a body of someone, with their head deformed, and blood everywhere. Overall this is a very good opening for a horrific thrilled film.

Halloween- 2007
I really liked the opening scene of this film because it starts off with a happy, jolly music and shows a young lad with a mask on playing with a mouse. Whilst on the other hand in the kitchen the parents- by looking at their attitude seems like it is the mother's second husband. The parents set no good example to their young children, because they where swearing calling each other names, the step-father also says rude things about his older daughter. Whilst on the other hand, the young boy who had the mouse, was in the toilet washing his hands and a pen knife which contained blood. This opening scene contained all the conventions needed for a horror film.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
The opening scene of this film is really good, but it is a bit confusing though. I liked the way they used their editing techniques to make the clip very effective, however there was no clear reason why the person is burning a picture of a little baby which we assume is the character. The way they kept their character under wrap kept the audiences on the edge of their seat, because they want to know how he looks like. Overall its a confusing, but a good opening.
